Autodesk Completes Acquisition of Softimage

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Nov. 18, 2008Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of Softimage – a developer of 3D technology for the film, television and games markets – for approximately $35 million. On October 23, 2008, Autodesk announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Softimage from Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID).

Softimage Enters Strategic Development Relationship with Exocortex Technologies

MONTRÉAL, Québec, October 7, 2008 Softimage Co., a part of Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID), today announced it has entered into a strategic development relationship with Exocortex Technologies, a privately held software company that develops graphics, information visualization and simulation software and services for government and private industry. Ben Houston, chief technology officer and founder of Exocortex, has numerous patents in the physical simulation field, and will focus his development on next-generation interactive fluid simulation solutions that utilize the new Softimage® ICE platform—a visual, multi-threaded, node-based programming model, designed for high-performance 3D effects and deformations. Softimage Releases Alienbrain 8.2 Digital Asset Management System
